Hurricane Season Travel Acknowledgment 

Traveling to the USVI between June 1 - November 30? This document serves as an acknowledgment and acceptance of the risks associated with traveling to the Caribbean during hurricane season.

1. Acknowledgment of Risks 

1.1. Understanding Hurricane Season: Hurricane season in the Caribbean typically runs from June 1 to November 30. During this period, the region is susceptible to tropical storms and hurricanes, which may cause severe weather conditions, including heavy rain, strong winds, flooding, and other adverse effects. 

1.2. Potential Risks: Traveling to the Caribbean during hurricane season may expose you to various risks, including but not limited to: 

  • Disruption or cancellation of travel plans. 

  • Damage or loss of property. 

  • Difficulties in accessing emergency services. 

  • Health and safety hazards due to severe weather conditions. 

  • Loss of utilities such as water and power. 

2. Acknowledgment of Personal Responsibility 

2.1. Travel Insurance: It is strongly recommended that you obtain comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and other unforeseen events related to weather conditions. 

2.2. Preparation: You are responsible for staying informed about weather conditions and any travel advisories issued by local authorities or your travel provider. It is your responsibility to prepare adequately for potential disruptions or emergencies. 

2.3. Evacuation and Safety: In the event of a hurricane or severe weather warning, you are responsible for following all safety instructions provided by local authorities, your accommodation, or travel provider. You should be prepared for potential evacuation procedures and understand that you may need to alter your travel plans. 

3. Acknowledgment of Accommodation Provider’s Limitations 

3.1. Accommodation Services: The accommodation provider may have limited ability to offer support or services during severe weather events. This may include potential disruptions in utilities, amenities, and access to the property. 

3.2. Liability: The accommodation provider will not be liable for any damages, losses, or inconveniences incurred as a result of weather-related events or other disruptions associated with hurricane season.

  • Guests assume all risk for traveling during Hurricane season, which runs from June 1 through November 30, and are responsible to purchase travel insurance to cover loss of non-refundable rent. Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) insurance is encouraged.

  • If there is a named storm and USVI is within the NHC/NOAA projected path/cone, and projected to occur within 5 days prior to the Guest’s scheduled arrival day, the Guest may postpone arrival up to 30 days (not including September), pending availability without penalty, or cancel. No refunds will be issued.

  • If there is a named storm and USVI is within close proximity (within 200 miles) of the NHC/NOAA projected path/cone, upon arrival or during stay, guests must fully vacate the villa as soon as notified by Antares to do so. This situation will be evaluated case by case. Partial credit will not be issued.

  • If Antares/the homeowner cannot provide the house for rental, such as if a state of emergency is declared or no one but for emergency workers are allowed on the island, or if the house is damaged during a storm that occurs prior to arrival, and no suitable substitute is available, a full refund, less cc processing, will be issued.
